Assistant Professor of Game Design, George Mason University, Fairfax, VA
2018 - 2025

  • Developed the "Spark!" curriculum, which empowers student creativity through customizable learning paths and micro-rubrics.

  • Taught over 1,800 students game design using Unity 3D and mentored students in developing portfolio-quality work.

  • Working with neuro-diverse teaching strategies to foster creativity in game design.

  • Service on the Computer Game Design Curriculum Committee and mentoring students in entrepreneurship.

  • Leading accessibility initiatives, including close captioning for game design tutorials.

 

Assistant Professor of Education & Director, Center for Innovation in Education, Thomas College, Waterville, ME

  • Developed STEAM-based serious games to engage students in innovative learning environments.

  • Directed collaborative projects, developed new curriculum, and led student internship programs focused on serious game development.

  • Lead consultant on NIH-funded grants to develop educational games about public health and air quality for middle school students.

 

Service (2023-2024)

  • Mentor, MIX Student Innovator Mastermind (Spring 2024 - Present): I continue to mentor a student developing a game in the MIX innovation space, fostering creativity and entrepreneurial thinking.  

  • Mason Space Day Booth (September 2024): I am preparing to host a booth at this significant annual event, where last year’s attendance was 4,200 students. I will be merging my interest in serious games and planetary science to engage students.  

  • Bring Your Junior Patriot to Work Day (Spring 2024): I led a hands-on activity, teaching participants how to build traditional Japanese mechanical toys (Karakuri), an enjoyable and educational experience for the GMU community.

  • Honors College Scholarship Challenge (Spring 2024): I evaluated student submissions in a design-thinking challenge, awarding full scholarships based on innovative solutions.
